Questions
Does it count Hindi and other Indian languages correctly?
Yes. Words are found with the browser's Unicode word rules (Intl.Segmenter), so Hindi, Tamil, Bengali and other scripts are counted by word, not by space, and vowel signs are not split from their letters.
How are characters counted?
By what you see as one character. An emoji like 👍🏽, a flag, or a Hindi letter with its vowel sign each count as one, even though computers store them as several code units. Some other counters report higher numbers for the same text.
How is reading time worked out?
Words divided by 200 words per minute, a typical pace for reading on screen. Your own speed may be faster or slower.
What counts as a sentence or a paragraph?
Sentences end with marks like . ? ! or the Hindi danda (।). Abbreviations like "Dr." can be counted as a sentence end, so treat the sentence count as an estimate. A paragraph is any line that isn't empty.
Is my text saved or uploaded?
No. Counting happens in your browser, and the text is gone when you close the page.
