How to use

  1. Choose Encode or Decode.
  2. Type or paste into the first box. The result updates as you type.
  3. When encoding, tick URL-safe to use - and _ instead of + and / and drop the = padding.
  4. Press Use result as input to reverse the conversion, or Copy to copy the result.

Questions

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion runs in your browser. Nothing you type or paste leaves your device.

Does it work with Hindi, other Indian scripts and emoji?

Yes. Text is converted to UTF-8 bytes before encoding, so every script and emoji survives the round trip. Plain btoa() in JavaScript fails on these characters.

What is URL-safe Base64?

A variant that uses - and _ instead of + and /, and usually drops the = padding, so the result can go in a URL or filename without escaping. JWTs use it. Decoding accepts both variants automatically.

Why does decoding say the result isn't UTF-8 text?

The Base64 is valid, but the bytes inside are not text. It is probably an image, a PDF or another binary file. This tool only shows text results.

Is Base64 encryption?

No. Anyone can decode it. Base64 only changes how data is written so it can travel through systems that expect text.
