  2. Choose Lines to compare whole lines, or Words to see changes inside sentences.
  3. Tick Ignore whitespace to skip changes that are only spaces, tabs or indentation.
  4. Read the summary, then the differences below. Press Swap to compare the other way round.

Questions

How are changes marked?

In line mode, added lines start with + and removed lines with −. In word mode, added words are underlined and removed words are struck through. Colours are added on top, so you don't need to tell green from red, and screen readers announce each change as added or removed.

What does Ignore whitespace do?

In line mode, lines that differ only in spaces or tabs, including indentation and trailing spaces, count as the same. In word mode, changes to the spacing between words are skipped. Different line endings (Windows or Mac/Linux) and a missing newline at the end are always ignored.

Does word mode work with Hindi?

Yes. Words are found with the browser's Unicode word rules, so a changed Hindi word is shown whole instead of being cut in the middle of its letters.

Is there a size limit?

There's no fixed limit, but very large texts that are very different can take too long to compare. If that happens you'll see a message instead of the page freezing.

Are my texts uploaded?

No. The comparison runs in your browser and nothing is sent or stored.
