Questions
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. It's compressed on your device in background workers, so bank statements, ID scans and contracts never leave it.
Will my text get blurry?
No. Only photos and scanned images are recompressed. Text, vector graphics, links and page sizes stay exactly as they were, and text stays selectable and searchable.
Why didn't my PDF get much smaller?
Most of a PDF's size is usually its images. A PDF of typed text has little to shrink, and some PDFs are already compressed well. Images stored in unusual formats (such as CMYK print files) are left alone to keep their colours right.
What do the levels do?
Lossless only tidies the file's internal structure. Recommended reduces each image to 150 DPI for the size it's shown on the page, which looks the same on screen. Strong uses 100 DPI and lower quality for the smallest files; fine print in scans may look softer.
Can it get my PDF under a size like 200 KB?
Try Strong first. If the result is still too big, the PDF may have too many pages of scans for that limit; splitting it with Split PDF and sending parts can help.
Are there limits?
Up to 100 MB and 300 pages. Password-protected PDFs need to be unlocked first with Unlock PDF.
